day 30 - Moon

Yesterday a friend of mine posted on their facebook page that yesterday's full moon was to be the brightest and biggest of 2010. I didn't get a chance to get some good pictures of it yesterday but I did get out there tonight. This was my best one. I think it's pretty incredible looking (the moon, not my picture). Makes me really want to get a bigger lens for a closer look.

day 29 - Numb3rs

My Friday night date ;) This show intriques me for some reason & I watch it most Fri nights.

day 28 - Soup

Tonight I made Mini Meatball Minestra. I don't make homemade soup to often but this sounded good and I've been looking for ways to get more beans in our diet. My daughter after tasting it, said "This soup is yummy" :-)

day 27 - Soda

An acquaintance introduced me to this Italian Blood Orange Soda. It's good. I'm not a big pop drinker, rarely buy any to have at home. I generally just have a glass when we occasionally eat out. But every once in a while I feel the need to buy a bottle of this and when I open it usually doesn't last to long.

day 26 - Mail

Today was a good mail day. No bills or junk mail. Just the latest issue of The Old Schoolhouse!

day 25 - Library

I love the library. I always have. I love to read & so what is better than a building filled with a huge selection to choose from.

day 24 - Pizza

 
We've been making a lot of homemade pizza lately. The kids love to "help" with it. This one was for me & my daughter. My one son likes his with just cheese and the other like his with cheese and salami.

day 23 - Resourceful

My 5 1/2yr old son likes to help get the ingredients out of the pantry for making pancakes. He doesn't let the fact that what he needs, is on the top shelf and out of his reach, stop him. He just does a little climbing.

day 22- Bread

 
I'm thnking I need to take up bread making. I can't believe how fast 5 of us are going through the bread. Since Wed afternoon we have already gone through almost 2 loaves!

day 21 - In memory

 

Every year in January I buy some flowers in memory of the baby I misscarried. January 16 was my estimated date of delivery. Usually I buy cut flowers but this year I decided on these potted bulbs that I can later plant in my yard. I miss you my angel.

day 20 - Trade in

This is my 3rd try to post this. Blogger has been giving me trouble loading my edited pictures, so here is the unedited one.

This is the car I had to trade in to get my new (to me) minivan. You may look at and think it's just a station wagon, what's the big deal. It's not just a boring wagon. This car is four wheel drive, has some of the comfiest seats you'll find in a car, a stick shift and is chipped. I love driving stick shifts and this car is fast. Today I got to drive it one last time. I shall miss this car.

day 19 - Moving up

My youngest is getting bigger. Big enough, that at the insistence of my oldest, I moved his saucer up a notch today.

day 18 - Bib

I have several friends that are talented in crafty/artsy areas. One of my friends was kind enough to knit this bib for Ean :-) It's so nice I kind of hate to use it for feedings.

day 17 - Roycroft

We are blessed to own some Arts & Crafts furniture, one is a Roycroft piece. This is branded on the piece.

day 16 - Minivan

I am now driving something that many years ago I never thought I would, a minivan. But many years ago I never thought I'd have four wonderful children either. One day I'll be able to drive sporty stick shifts again but for now a minivan is the best fit for our family.

day 15 - Babylegs

My daughter started out the day in a skirt with a matching top and tights. Somewhere along the way she took the skirt and tights off. How she was warm enough I don't know but she seemed to be. Then to get settled down for her nap she went in the swing. Knowing she would get cold and not wanting to take her out of the swing and try to get her back in and quiet again, I pulled out the baby legs. Perfect.

day 14 - Wash

My washer & dryer. Probably the hardest working appliance in the house. We bought it before we had kids and it's only really meant to be doing the wash for 1-2 people. It's now doing it for 6! Hope it holds out for a few more years.

day 13 - Sky

The sky was just a beautiful shade of blue today. I tried to capture it, as best I could.

day 12 - Babyfood

I just recently started my youngest on solids. While I do buy some baby food, I will also be making some. Here's the first that I made - sweet potato. Chopped & ready for steaming, in the steamer & done and last, pureed & ready for the freezer.

day 11- Menu

Here is my planned menu for the week. The main reason I made a chalkboard for my fridge was to put down needed groceries, which I do use it for this. The other thing I use it for is posting a menu for the week. Most weeks that doesn't get done, at least not for all the days of the week. That is something I hope to improve upon.

day 10 - Rosemary

Pretty much every year I bring my rosemary plant in for the winter. It will not survive in the garden during our cold winters. Most years I manage to keep it alive until I can plant it outside in the spring. It's nice having it inside, it smells so wonderful when you rub the leaves and is handy for recipes calling for fresh rosemary. Today I chopped some up for a new dish I'm trying- Slow Roasted Garlic & Rosemary Chicken.

day 9 - Badge

Somewhere along the way I fell in love with Land Rovers. Love the look of the older models though I'll take a newer one with coil springs over the old leaf springs any day for driveability.

day 8 - snow

Yesterday we received our first decent snowfall of this winter, the kind that coats all the trees in white.

day 7 - Bird Feeders

We usually have several bird feeders filled all year long. These are the 3 that are currently feeding our feathered friends (& the furry squirrels that can figure out how to get into them).

day 6 - Tracks

So far we are about 7" below our normal snowfall average for this point in the winter. I did a real quick shovel after the last snow & there is still a light dusting at the edges of the walk. Perfect for seeing the tracks left by the Juncos hopping around looking for food.

a picture a day

I've accepted a challenge to take a picture each day and the goal is to also post the said picture each day. We'll see how well I can do with the 2nd step. Since I just came across this idea (thanks Drea) and the idea was to start with Jan 1, and it is now the 4th. I will just post 3 pictures to represent the 1st, 2nd & 3rd and will be coming back later to do today's.
